The Correct Usage of Lubricating Solution of Contact Lens

The surface of human eyes is always covered with a layer of tear film, which could protect the eyeball from bacterial infection, keep the lubrication of the eye surface, and maintain the physiological function of the cornea and conjunctiva. Under normal circumstances, the tears will constantly evaporate. Meanwhile, tear gland will secrete new tears as complement. But if you wear the contact lens for a long time, it will cause the functional decrease of tear gland. In this case, lubricating solution of contact lens is needed to help keep the eyes moist, and relieve the dry eyes and discomfort.  

With the artificial tear replacement as the main content, lubricating solution of contact lens is specially used to the group of people who has dry eyes while wearing contact lens. Generally the lubricating solution is divided into 2 categories. One category is fluid-type, which is used by the group of people with mild symptoms. The other category is gel-type, which is used in times of severe symptoms. In order to escape from the influence to the contact lens material, or irritation to the eyes, lubricating solution cannot be randomly replaced by eye-drops with therapeutical effect or care solution. 

The usage of lubricating solution is very simple. You only need to keep raising your head, slightly lift the lower eyelid and drip the lubricating solution into the lower eyelid. Then, blink your eyes and close your eyes for some minutes, making the lubricating solution equally distributed in the eyes. The usage period of lubricating solution is generally one month with 1-2 drops each time. It should be noted that because preservative is added to the lubricating solution, so less than 5 times usage every day is recommended, in escape of too much dependence on the eyes and influencing the secretion function of the tears. 

You have to be careful if you wear the contact lens for a long time. Whatever the reason, once you have the eye discomfort, purchasing the lubricating solution by yourself is not advised. You should go to hospital to find out the reason and use under the guidance of the doctor.
